Users with their own "802.11b" or "g" equipped laptops, cell phones and PDAs inside the library can now check e-mail or access the Internet. A properly configured card will automatically detect the library's "PublicLibrary" ID when the device is powered on, and no password is needed to connect.
Because library customers are accessing the library's network, they must follow the Electronic Resources Policy, which is posted at http://www.lafayette.lib.la.us/.
While printing is not currently available through the wireless network, users can e-mail a copy of their files to themselves or place the files on a floppy disk or USB drive and use the public library computers to retrieve the files and print. For more information, call 261-5787 or http://www.lafayette.lib.la.us/.
