CHILDREN OF CONGO FOUNDATION
Education
Education plays an important part in any child future life. There is a saying: “ give me a fish today, I will be hungry tomorrow, but if you teach me how to fish I will have food for the rest of my life.” Congo children need to be given a chance to have education. The future of their country is in their hands.
The tuition at our target school that houses at least 900 students from 1st - to 8 grade, is set at $1.00 a month or $10.00 a year to help pay teachers whose salary of $45.00 a month set by the government has not been paid for the past fifteen years. Parents have to provide seating stools or bricks for their children, and those with more than one child have to choose who to send to school every month. Most of the time the 9 months of schooling is not fully completed because of the rain.
