New: The agriculture program is being started to be able to get the orphanage to become
self-sufficient:
3acres of crops: Cassava, beans and corn
2 fish ponds for tilapia and catfish
One permanent pig pen
In Need immediately: 10 outside restrooms and 10 outside showers rooms for the 40 children
Bishadi Children's House is the orphanage initiated by the Children of Congo Foundation after the six months stay of the founder Pauline Neto in the community of Bakua Ndoba. Forty percent of the children at St Etienne of Nyemvue are orphans. The Children's house hope to house forty orphans from five to ten years old. It is still under construction and will be opening in summer 2010.
St Etienne of Nyemvue benefited with many building works like, roof replacement, foundation re-enforcement, blackboard repair, furnishing of desks, tables, chairs, playground equipment installation, and soccer field installation.
The water project started to prevent children water related diseases and to improve their attendance at school. Before the installation of Ewing I and Ewing II, water springs, Children were walking miles and miles to acquire clean drinking water for themselves and their family, or the alternative was to get the water from a very unhealthy source.
